Day 2 @ Cannes Lions
My morning began with the familiar ringing of the overplayed Apple alarm tone, and the lack of early morning espresso made it a little harder to keep a smile on my face while nodding along to advertising executives. I once again arrived early to walk around the festival, before heading to our arranged breakfast through UGA with Havas. Here I talked with an animated Global Executive for Havas Health about the impact his work has on him as well as the community it reaches. Shortly after, I rushed to the packed Lumiere Theatre to see the one and only Alfonso Cuaron amidst a panel on “Art and Activism.” The message that art can be the concept that pushes people to action through genuity and drive is one that inspires me and that I would like to contribute to once I graduate. “The Art of Asking Questions” was the next seminar I attended, which wasn’t as impressive to me, but opened my mind to philosophical analyses behind AI. Being unfamiliar with AI, this topic grabbed my attention but the speakers failed to maintain it. I decided to further explore the social media beach sites as a break from the seminars, and also took a deeper look into the cabanas. I had to leave soon after to head to Ma’s Irish Pub where I heard David Linde, a speaker on the “Art and Activism” panel, hold a discussion with 14 UGA students including myself. Being able to hear from someone who was successful in a job that interests me was an impactful moment that was truly inspiring. Looping back to the terrace, by chance I stumbled upon a talk with one of the most engaging speakers of the day. SoulPancake won over my heart as well as attention with their useful information on how to keep storytelling interesting and bold. I attentively listened to Spotify discuss “The Golden Age of Sound” next, accompanied by famous singer Camilla Cabello. I personally have a connection to music as well as audio communication methods such as podcasts and really appreciated the information discussed in this session. There is an intimacy to the medium which Spotify succeeds at providing, proven by the 250,000 podcasts on the platform. This being the final session of my day, I left in search of pizza and after returned to Google Beach. Here I experienced a DJ named Justice as well as networked with employees from Jellyfish as well as Google. As I left the fist bumping and head bobbing bass filled room, I started towards the train station that I will be returning to tomorrow morning.
Looks like you like to write. Nicely done.
